Thank you for this intelligent and thoughtful response. Although I never formally define sex and gender, I try to do it implicitly throughout the course of my piece. I think gender is performative and cultural. I generally use “sex” to refer to biological processes and attributes, but I lack consistency with these choices…as you noted. I will try to make that more explicit, and consistent, in “Part 2” — which I hope to get to before the end of summer.
My university has asked me to do some academic writing, which is stealing my time and energy from writing on my more personal interests.
