Thank you! I was explaining this to a friend of mine who lives in a big, “blue” urban center. I live in a smaller, politically “purple,” frontier state. We both work for racial justice, but my work is much different….I have to finesse those around me into seeing things differently. It’s a longer ‘con’ and it takes patience. My friend felt that my efforts ‘fell short,’ and that his holier-than-thou scolding and linguistic policing were the correct way. I told him, ‘strategy has to vary depending on the context.’ We agreed to disagree.
