All these reasons and more caused me to leave religion forever at the age of 18. Since then, it's only gotten worse... I think the nail in the coffin was the embrace of GOP politics by American Christians. At this point, the word "Christian" provokes images and thoughts that are almost entirely negative, to me. I think of "the good ones" as exceptions, not the rule.
It will takes decades to repair the damage, if it can ever be done. Younger generations are already moving on, feeling 'good without god.'
In my mind, there is one religion, it is love, one church, the sky, and only congregation: life on earth.
Everything else is a lever of power and division.
